According to a news release issued by the Pennsylvania State Police on April 11, 2025, the crash took place around 2:05 a.m. at the intersection of Stock Street and Eichelberger Street. A 2024 Ford Explorer, operated by state police and occupied by two officers, was traveling north on Stock Street with its emergency lights and sirens activated.
As the police vehicle approached the intersection, a 2022 Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by a 17-year-old male from Whitestown, Indiana, was heading north on Eichelberger Street. The release states that the F-150 driver allegedly failed to stop at the posted stop sign, resulting in a collision with the police vehicle.
The impact caused disabling damage to both vehicles. The passenger in the state police vehicle, a 26-year-old male, and the driver of the F-150 reportedly sustained minor injuries. The driver of the police vehicle, a 42-year-old male, was not reported to have been injured.
Following the incident, the teenage driver of the F-150 was cited for a traffic violation related to 'duties at stop signs.' The passenger in the pickup truck was identified as a 17-year-old male from Hampton, New Jersey.
