Instant games on mobile: RTP by game, how each format pays and where to play

What happens in an instant-game round

An instant game takes a stake and returns a result in one short round. The player sets the stake before the round starts. The game then draws the outcome from its random process and shows the payout, or the loss, at once.

Instant games differ by how many choices sit inside that round. Plinko drops a ball through pegs and pays the slot it lands in. Dice pays from a target the player sets. Mines and hi-lo keep the round open so the player can cash out after a step, or continue and risk the stake.

The families of those formats, including Limbo, coin flip and crash-style multipliers, are set out in the guide to types of instant casino games. That guide is the next step when the question is which control each format gives you.

Published RTP on four instant games

The short-answer rows use four titles we already hold facts for. Each figure below is the studio's published RTP, volatility or release year in our game data. A missing year means the record does not list one.

Plinko XY lists a published RTP of 99%. BGaming is the studio on Plinko XY. Plinko XY's declared volatility is medium. BGaming released Plinko XY in 2022.

Plinko Dare 2 Win lists a published RTP of 98.98%. Hacksaw Gaming is the studio on Plinko Dare 2 Win. Plinko Dare 2 Win's declared volatility is adjustable(low-high). Hacksaw Gaming released Plinko Dare 2 Win in 2023.

Turbo Mines lists a published RTP of 98.89%. Galaxsys is the studio on Turbo Mines. Turbo Mines's declared volatility is medium.

Minesweeper XY lists a published RTP of 98.4%. BGaming is the studio on Minesweeper XY. Minesweeper XY's declared volatility is low.

Mines is the format where the player chooses how many hidden mines sit on the grid. The step-by-step rules, including when the cash-out button becomes active, are in how to play Mines.

How plinko, mines, crash and slots differ

Plinko settles when the ball stops. The player chooses rows and a risk setting before the drop, then has no further decision in that round. The multiplier is the slot the ball lands in, so the spread of slots is the whole payout table.

Mines settles only when the player cashes out or hits a mine. Each safe tile raises the multiplier. Each extra mine on the grid raises that multiplier and shortens the typical run of safe tiles.

Crash games use a rising multiplier that stops at a random point. The player wins only by cashing out before that stop. The separate hub for that format is crash games.

Slots carry a published RTP range from 94 to 98. Slots use reels, paylines and bonus rounds, which instant games leave out.

Why short rounds change the cost of a session

A phone screen fits a one-tap game because the controls are a stake, a risk setting and a result. That same simplicity is why a session can run through many rounds before the player notices the clock.

The house edge is the share of each stake the published RTP does not return. Plinko XY's published RTP is 99%, so its long-run cost per stake is the gap under 100%. Minesweeper XY's published RTP is 98.4%, a wider gap on the same stake. The number of rounds, not the headline RTP, decides how fast that gap shows up in the balance.

Set a round count and a loss stop before the first stake. Crash and mines also need a cash-out rule chosen before the round, because the decision inside the round is the part that stretches.

What provably fair does and does not prove

A provably fair instant game publishes a hash of its server seed before the round and the seed itself afterwards. The player can recompute the result from the server seed, the client seed and the nonce.

That check answers one question: whether the outcome was fixed after the stake was placed. The check does not raise the published RTP. The house edge stays in the payout table even when every seed matches.

• Confirms the round used the seed committed in advance.
• Leaves the house edge in the payout table.
• Applies only to games that publish the seeds.
