Punto Banco is a variant of baccarat, a card game popular among casinos in Sweden. In Punto Banco, the game is between two hands - Punto and Banco. Punto stands for Player while Banco stands for the Bank. The aim of the game is to get as close to 9 points as possible.
The value of each card is as follows:
- Face cards, such as Jacks, Queens and Kings, are worth 0
- Tens are worth 0
- Aces are worth 1
- Number cards 2-9 are worth the same number of points as their face value
In a game of Punto Banco, each side is dealt two cards initially. The Player (Punto) will always be dealt first, followed by the Bank (Banco). After the initial two cards have been dealt, the value of the Player's (Punto's) hand is determined. If the Player's (Punto's) hand equals 8 or 9, no more cards will be dealt, and the Player (Punto) wins. If the Player (Punto) has a score of 6 or 7, the Player (Punto) must stand and cannot be dealt any more cards.
If the Player (Punto) has a score of 0 to 5, then the Player (Punto) must draw another card, and the Bank (Banco) must draw another card if their score is between 0 and 5. If the Bank (Banco) has a score of 6 or 7, then the Bank (Banco) must stand and cannot draw any more cards.
