Poker is a classic and popular card game in Romania. There are several variations of the game, each with its own set of rules. In most local Romanian casinos, the Texas Hold'em version of poker is played. This variation, which can also be found in online casinos, is the most common version.
In Texas Hold'em, players are each dealt two face-down cards, called hole cards. The round starts with the player to the left of the dealer, who must make the āsmall blindā bet. The player to the left of the small blind then makes the ābig blindā bet. This is a mandatory bet in order to stay active in the round. All players can either call the blinds, raise or fold.
After the blinds are placed, the dealer deals three cards face up on the table, called the āflopā. The players can then use these, along with their hole cards, to make the best possible hand. At this stage, the players can either check or make a bet.
When all players have acted, the dealer turns the fourth card face up (known as the āturnā) and the players can once again bet or check. Finally, the fifth card is turned face up (known as the āriverā) and the players can make the last bet of the round.
Once all bets are made, a showdown is reached. The player with the best five-card hand wins the pot (the money bet by players in the round).
