Mahjong (also known as Majiang, Ma Zhang, Mijang and many other names) is a 4-player game that originated in China. The game is very popular in Kuwait and is played with the same traditional tiles, albeit with some local variations. A Mahjong set typically consists of 144 tiles and four players take part in the game.
The objective of Mahjong is to make a winning hand and be the first to discard all the tiles in your hand. Players begin the game with 13 tiles and take turns discarding tiles, until a player completes the winning hand. All winning hands must incorporate at least one tile of each suit, and is usually a pair, a sequence or a combination of the two. Apart from the conventional rules, there are also some local variations that are commonly played in Kuwait.
