In Kenya, gambling is regulated by the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB). The board executes it's mandate under the Betting, Lotteries and Gaming Act of 1966. The Act gives the licensing board power to issue and revoke licenses to casino operators. The licenses expire 30th June of every year.
Gambling in online and land-based casinos is legal in Kenya as long as the operators are approved by the Betting Control and Licensing Board. However, the law needs an update to include online gambling. Since there are no online licensed casinos in Kenya, many Kenyans opt for offshore sites.
Currently, Kenya has about thirty licensed land-based casinos.
