Three Card Poker is a card game that is played between the player and the dealer in Costa Rica, like in many other countries. Players have two options in the game: to play against the dealer or to make a side bet with the bonus payouts. There are three ways to win in this game: the player can win if they have a higher-ranking hand than the dealer, they can get a bonus payout if they get a pair or better, or they can win if they have a better side bet. Players don’t necessarily need to know all the rules of the game in order to be successful in it.
The goal of the game is to get a stronger hand rank than the dealer. The game is played with a standard 52-card deck and is usually offered in two versions in Costa Rica's mobile casinos: six-card and seven-card. In the six-card version, the player receives two cards face up and the dealer receives one card face up and three face down. In the seven-card version, the player receives three cards face up and the dealer receives four cards face down. The rank of hands is determined based on the rankings of the traditional Poker game.
