Texas Hold’em is one of the most popular poker variations around and is widely available in Israel. The game is a ‘community card’ variation of poker, which means that cards are dealt to the entire table rather than individual players. Depending on the version of the game, two to ten players take part in each hand.
At the start of the game, each player is dealt two cards which are only visible to them. Then, three cards are dealt face-up in the middle of the table which form the ‘community cards’ that all players can use. The aim of the game is to make the best five-card hand made up of both the hole cards and the community cards.
After the first three community cards have been dealt, the players can start to make their bets. This is followed by the fourth and fifth community cards, with additional betting rounds between each one. There is also an additional option known as ‘check’ which allows players to remain in the pot without having to commit any chips.
Finally, all players who are still in the pot at this point must reveal their cards and the best hand wins the pot.
