Punto Banco is a popular card game in South Korea. It is played between the Punto ("Player") and the Banco ("Banker"), with the objective of reaching a total card count of nine or as close to it as possible. The game starts with the Punto and the Banco each being dealt two cards from a standard 52-card deck. The sum of the two cards is then calculated for both the Punto and the Banco.
The values of the cards are determined as follows: cards from two to nine are counted at face value; ten and face cards (Kings, Queens, and Jacks) are counted as zero; and Aces are counted as one. If the resulting sum is eight or nine (a "natural"), then the Punto and the Banco stand and the game progresses to the next round.
If the sum of the two cards is less than eight, the Punto and the Banco can each draw an additional card. The Punto and the Banco can then either stand or draw again; the winner of the round is determined based on the highest hand. The Punto and the Banco have the option to "pass" if they do not wish to draw any more cards.
