Punto Banco, also known as North American Baccarat, is a popular card game found in numerous mobile casinos in Gibraltar. It involves two hands—the Player’s hand and the Banker’s hand—which compete against each other in an attempt to reach a sum of 9. Each player’s hand consists of two to three cards, while the Banker’s hand is composed of four cards. Before the game commences, players must make bets of either the ‘Player’, the ‘Banker’ or a ‘Tie’. All players must also agree on the minimum and maximum bet limits.
Once the bets are placed, the Player and the Banker are both dealt two cards. The Player’s and Banker’s hands are then evaluated to determine the highest possible score, with the possible scores ranging from 0 to 9. If either hand has a total of 8 or 9, it is considered a ‘natural’, which is a winning hand. If the Player’s hand is between 0 and 5, they must draw a third card to get closer to 9. If neither hand has a natural, the tableau is consulted to determine whether the Player or the Banker should draw an additional card. When the hands have been evaluated, the winner is determined and the bets are paid out accordingly.
