Punto Banco is a popular casino card game played in casinos worldwide. It is particularly popular in Colombia, where it enjoys immense popularity. Punto Banco is often referred to as Baccarat or Baccarat-Chemin de Fer; however, it is not the same game. The aim of the game is for the player to correctly guess the outcome of two hands dealt by the banker.
In Punto Banco, the player and the banker each receive two cards. The player's cards are dealt first, followed by the banker's cards. Aces are worth one point, two to nine cards are worth their face value (2-9), and 10s or face cards (Jack, Queen, King) are worth zero points.
After the initial two cards have been dealt out, the player can choose to draw a third card. This is known as drawing a third card. The third card is drawn downwards and the banker draws a third card according to predetermined rules. The winner of the hand is determined by comparing the total points of each hand. The player with the higher total point wins the round.
If either the player or the banker has 8 or 9 points, the hand is declared a 'natural' and the player with the highest total point wins the round. If the total points of both hands are equal, the game ends in a tie and bets are returned to the players.
