Punto Banco is a casino game of pure chance that is commonly offered at casinos in Brazil. Its gameplay consists of comparing hands between two players – the ‘punto’ and the ‘banco’ – in which the higher-value hand wins. In Punto Banco, players are not required to make any decisions as the dealer is responsible for handling all the cards.
The game starts with a maximum of 14 players, each of whom is dealt two cards. In Punto Banco, Aces are worth a point, 10s, Jacks, Queens and Kings are all worth zero points, and all other cards are worth their face value. The player and the dealer then compare the points of their hands to determine the winner. The Punto’s hand wins if the total number of points in the hand is higher than the Banco’s, and if the total is lower, the Banco’s hand wins. If the two hands tie, the Banco’s hand automatically wins.
