Punto Banco, a game of chance, is popular among online and mobile casino gamers in Bosnia & Herzegovina. This variation of baccarat is a game of contrasting hands—the “Punto” (player) or the “Banco” (banker) with players guessing which hand will show the highest total.
This type of baccarat is played with six or eight decks of cards. The goal of the game is to guess which hand, “Punto” or “Banco”, will reach a total closest to 9. To play, players place their bets on the designated areas on the table. After all bets are placed, two cards are dealt to the player hand and two cards to the banker hand. Cards from 2 to 9 have face value, while face cards and 10s are worth zero. An ace is worth one point.
The “Punto” and “Banco” hands may receive an additional card, depending on the two-card totals. The receiving rules are as follows:
• If the total value of both hands is 8 or 9, the hand is declared a natural. • If the total value of the “Punto” hand is 5 or less, it must draw another card. • If the total value of the “Punto” hand is 6 or 7, it must stand. • If the total value of the “Banco” hand is less than 2 or higher than 7, it must draw another card. • The “Banco” will stand if the total value is 7, 8, or 9.
Once all extra cards are drawn, the hand that counts closest to 9 is the winner.
