Pai Gow is an ancient Chinese strategy game that dates back centuries and is popular across the world. The game uses a modified set of 32 Chinese dominoes, which are shuffled and then arranged into seven unique combinations of hands that make up the game. In the Netherlands, Pai Gow is played on a mobile casino app, and there are a few key rules to understand before playing.
The game is played with a dealer and up to six players, each of whom is dealt seven tiles. Each player then has to place the tiles in two different hands – one with five tiles and the other with two tiles. The five-tile hand is known as the high hand and the two-tile hand is known as the low hand. The objective of the game is for the player’s high and low hands to beat the dealer’s high and low hands respectively, with the highest-ranking combination possible.
Players have the option to bank the game on the first hand. This means that if the dealer’s hand is higher than the player’s hand, the player will win the bet. If both the player and the dealer have the same combination, then the hand is considered a “push,” and no money is exchanged.
If the player decides not to bank the game, then the player’s five-tile hand has to be higher than the dealer’s five-tile hand while the two-tile hand has to be lower than the dealer’s two-tile hand. The player can also decide to “foul” their hand, which means that the two-tile combination is higher than the five-tile combination, resulting in an overall loss.
