Mahjong is an ancient Chinese game played by four players, using a set of 144 tiles. In South Korea, the game is known as ë§žê³ (or majesto). Mahjong is a game of skill and luck, where players try to create certain specific patterns with their tiles. The most common version of Mahjong found in South Korean mobile casinos is the 맞바퀴 (or mabwa) version which follows the same rules as the Japanese version, though with slightly different tile designs.
In mabwa Mahjong, each player is dealt 13 tiles from a wall of 144 tiles, which are kept face-down in the wall. The tiles consist of a range of different characters (letters and numbers) on them, plus ‘flower’ and ‘season’ tiles.
Players must build their hand by selecting tiles from the wall and discarding tiles face up, which other players can take and use in their hands. The aim of the game is to create four melds (three or four of a kind) and a pair of the same tile. The player who has the highest score once all the tiles are gone is the winner.
