Mahjong, also known as ‘Ma Cheuk’ among the locals in Cambodia, is a four-player matching game played with tiles that originated in China. Mahjong is a popular game across Asia and is one of the most popularly played games in Cambodia. The Cambodian version of Mahjong involves the use of 144 tiles, which are divided into four distinct categories of suits: Characters, Bamboos, Circles, and Honors. All of these suits have numbers from one to nine on it, and the two extra suits of Honors have four Wind and three Dragon tiles.
The game is played in four rounds, and in each round the players compete to make the best hand using the tiles. The first player to do this gets the most points and wins the round. The winner of the game is the player who has accumulated the most points after playing all four rounds.
