Blackjack, also known as “twenty-one,” is one of the most popular casino card games in Haiti. The game is played between one or more players and the dealer. The main aim of the game among the players is to have a higher total score than the dealer without exceeding 21 points. In case of exceeding 21 points, the player automatically loses.
For the game, each of the players is initially dealt two cards, usually face-up. The dealer then deals one card face-up and another card face-down. The players are then allowed to take as many additional cards as they wish, one-by-one, until they either reach the total score of 21 points or make a move to stand. The dealer then reveals his/her hole card and plays out the hand in accordance with the rules of the house. Hands that have the same total point count are called a “push” and neither the house nor the player wins the game.
