Blackjack, also known as 21, is a classic card game requiring skill, strategy and luck. It is one of the most popular casino games in the world and is well-loved by Australians. At Australian mobile casinos, the aim of the game is to draw cards to a total of 21, or as near to it as possible, without going over.
Players are initially dealt two cards, face up. The dealer is dealt two cards, one of which is kept face down. The player then decides whether to āhitā (take an extra card) or āstandā (no extra cards). A player who exceeds a total of 21 loses immediately, known as ābustā.
Blackjack could be played with one to eight decks of cards, but most commonly played with six decks. Players are allowed to split cards of the same rank (in sets of two) and are awarded a third card afterwards. If both player and dealer have the same total, it is a āpushā and no money is exchanged.
In Australia, typically players must hit up to 17 and the dealer must stand at 17. The score of the game can also be determined by the dealerās visible card ā if a dealer has an Ace in their hand, they can provide the player with the opportunity to buy insurance, which pays 2-1 if the dealer has blackjack.
